570 CE

Muhammad's Birth

Muhammad is born in Mecca. His father, Abdullah, dies before his birth, and his mother, Aminah, dies when he is six years old.

570-572 CE

Wet Nursing

Muhammad is breast-fed by Halima, a common Arab custom. He lives with her family in the desert for several years.

576 CE

Mother's Passing

Muhammad's mother, Aminah, passes away. He is then cared for by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, who also dies two years later.

578 CE

Care of Uncle Abu Talib

After the death of his grandfather, Muhammad is cared for by his uncle Abu Talib, who becomes his protector.

595 CE

Marriage to Khadijah

Muhammad marries Khadijah, a noble and successful businesswoman. She becomes his first supporter and believer.

610 CE

First Revelation

Muhammad receives his first revelation through the angel Gabriel in the cave of Hira, marking the beginning of his prophethood.

613 CE

Public Preaching Begins

Muhammad begins publicly preaching Islam, calling people to worship Allah alone.

622 CE

The Hijra (Migration)

Muhammad and his followers migrate from Mecca to Medina due to persecution. This marks the start of the Islamic calendar.

630 CE

Conquest of Mecca

Muhammad and his followers peacefully conquer Mecca, cleanse the Kaaba of idols, and establish Islam in the city.

632 CE

The Farewell Pilgrimage & Passing

Muhammad delivers his final sermon during the farewell pilgrimage and later passes away in Medina.
